Phil Neville – despite neither applying for the job nor ever holding a management role himself – is the new England Women’s head coach as of today.
But, at this rate, it might not be for very long.

As a result, the former Manchester United, Everton and England defender has swiftly moved to delete his Twitter account altogether.
So the following are the tweets in question which, we’ll go as far as saying, probably don’t fit the ideal character traits the FA were looking for from their candidates for the job.

It really begs the question… in this day and age of internet trolls and spies, why was nobody employed to flag back through Neville’s old activity to avoid embarrassment like this?
Neville, as far as the rumours are true, was the only candidate really in the running for the job despite his lack of experience.
So officials at the FA had plenty of time to take the necessary precautions well in advance of the announcement.
